The Death of the Resume
Leonardo da Vinci wrote the first resume in 1482, over 500 years ago and since that time the resume has not changed all that much. Basically it is and has always been a two dimensional view of a person's background and skills.
Unfortunately today the resume has lost its luster, lost its ability to provide significant value. A two dimensional view of anything these days is often found to be, well humdrum. We are used to flash, glitz, glamour, being sold; all in 60 seconds or less. We are so busy and there is just so much information that we need to digest in the course of a day, we need to receive information quickly, process it, make a decision and move on to the next decision.
The resume in today's world just isn't providing value in its current form. Wopodo is setting out to change that. Wopodo is setting out to “kill it” the resume and “reinvent” it in a way that utilized a multi-dimensional view of the person represented.
A person deserves to be represented by much more than a piece of processed wood with some ink on it. At Wopodo the resume is a profile, a profile that consists of the entire person and all of their complexities and dimensionalities.
The resume includes a personality assessment so that the applicant and the employer can look for qualities that are a fit and provide for the best opportunity for both the happiness of the applicant in their new role but also the company receiving the right applicant who performs well within the role and organization and will remain in that organization.
The resume includes recorded video of the applicant answering five of the most standard pre-screening interview questions. This allows the candidate to demonstrate their ability to verbally represent themselves and their qualifications.
The personality assessment, the recorded video, the skills and experience sheet (i.e. the old resume) as well as links to quickly view Professional Network profiles, Social Network profiles, blogs, Twitter activity all come together as brush strokes to form an all around painting of the individual candidate and makes them more than just words on their resume!
